About Me
Kootenays BC
Hey, I'm Daniel and I really like building things, solving problems, and learning random things. I built my first company in high school, followed by 5 more over the course of the last 11 years, with 2 exits. Not all of them worked out, but the process has taught me a few things about forestry, healthcare, marketing, and, most importantly, how important it is for me to never stop discovering/learning.
Beyond trying to tackle big problems with untraditional solutions, my curiosity and passion for discovery have brought me to really appreciate the outdoors, where I love connecting with others with similar values while recharging myself.
Sharing my learnings is something I'm always stoked to do, and believe that passing stories and ideas along is what keeps our world moving forwards. So feel free to hit me up if you think I can help you build, or if you're just genuinely curious about anything!

The Need For Measurement-Based Care and Remote Patient Monitoring In Behavioral Health & Substance Use Disorder
Introduces stats on mental health prevalence — one in five people experience a mental health disorder annually, anxiety/depression diagnoses rose sharply during COVID-19, substance use disorders cost $600B/year in the US, overdose deaths have tripled since 1990, and 97.94% of those with Substance Use Disorder have an underlying Mental Health Disorder — and advocates for Measurement-Based Care combined with Remote Patient Monitoring to improve behavioral health treatment outcomes and reduce cost/duration of care.

Using Passive Sensor Data From Smartphones To Measure Mental Health
Burnout costs US companies $300B annually, 77% of full-time employees report experiencing burnout, poor mental health is linked to a 10-25 year decrease in life expectancy, and 78% of malpractice claims involved a physician reporting burnout. Argues existing mental health apps (Calm, Headspace) require active user engagement and lack long-term efficacy, and proposes passive smartphone sensor monitoring to detect mental health status and trigger timely intervention without requiring the user to self-initiate.
